Why I Hunt

There are many reasons that I hunt. The biggest reason I hunt is to be in the woods with my friends and family. It is a perfect opportunity to bond with anyone you take with you. That part means the most to me. Especially when you can be the first one to see a person’s face when they kill their first kill of either a deer, turkey, goose, duck, rabbit or any animal. That face will never be seen again unless they kill a new state record buck. I love those opportunities. I also hunt because I am addicted to it. There is nothing else like getting in the words in the early morning when it is still dark out and it is dead silent. Then slowly the woods light up and get warmer when the sun rises. I love being able to just go and sit in the stand to watch different animals in the peace and quiet and to be able to spend time with others and just being able to think about everything in my life. I was raised by a family that lived for hunting seasons. My father took me out in the woods to watch him hunt when I was only five years old. I can still remember that day. I could not fall asleep the night before because I was so excited. That is when the addiction first started. I would go out almost any day that I could for the next 7 years until I was 12 and able to hunt small game for myself. I have the opportunity to recently start hunting for Sisson Outdoors and be able to share my passion of hunting with others at fairs and charity events. If I can be so addicted to the outdoors than that means anyone can. That’s why I think it is very important to get the youth involved to keep the sport of hunting alive. Until next time when it’s brown it’s down.
